Barbara Jean Martin

Barbara Jean Martin, 88, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Loretto. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, Barbara worked with her husband at his dental studio. She was a breeder and handler of West Highland Terriers, garnering countless ribbons at shows throughout the Northeast. As an active member of the Onondaga Kennel Association, Barbara made many enduring friendships with fellow dog lovers. Above all, Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with family and friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Richard W. Martin, in 1998; and son, Dennis Martin, in 2014.

Surviving are her daughter, Sherry (Mark) Russell of Manlius; sons, Michael (Melanie) of Fairport, Stephen and R. Darryl (Michelle), both of Syracuse; sister, Nancy (Carl) Walrath of Oswego; grandchildren, Sarah Flynn, Miranda O'Hara, Andrew Martin, Jacqueline Russell, Morgan Russell, Bailey Martin and Mia Martin; and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Wyatt Flynn.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Barbara will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse.
