Charles L. Fay, 93, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, November 3, 1915, he was the son of Norris Wheeler Fay Sr. and Mabel Frances Green Fay. Chuck lived most of his life in the Valley. He attended Vocational High School and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Chuck was employed for 28 years with Porter Cable Machine Co./Rockwell North American Manufacturing Co. and previously worked for Doyle Manufacturing. He was a communicant of St. James Church, member of the American Legion Valley Post, and a former member of the Syracuse Turners. Chuck was predeceased by his wife, the former Betty Ann Klein (2006); sister, Phyllis Cook and niece, Judith Cox. Surviving are his daughters, Marion F. (Donald) Cook of Marietta and Nancy K. (James) Donaldson of Syracuse; brother, Norris W. (Linda) Fay of Syracuse; grandson, Brendan (Karen) Burghardt of Lake Worth, Florida; granddaughter, Kirsten Beth Burghardt of Tequesta, Florida; great-granddaughter, Hannah Lyman Burghardt and great-grandson, Samuel Lyman Burghardt, both of Lake Worth, Florida; granddaughter, Jeannie (William) Hinson and great-granddaughters, Megan and Emily Hinson, all of Boise, Idaho; grandson, John (Christa) Cook of Syracuse; granddaughter, Amy (Todd) Lamberton of Syracuse; great-granddaughters, Allison Riley Lamberton and Madison Grace Cook of Syracuse; great-grandson, Connor Robert Lamberton of Syracuse; niece, Dorothy (James) Colegrove of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and nephew, Robert (Carol) Cox of Oakhurst, California and their families. Chuck is survived by a large extended family and network of friends who adored him as Dad, Grandpa Chuck and Chuck. Especially held dear were Gary, Christina, Kyle, Kevin and Katie Brassie of Warners; Jim and Nancy Cook, Maureen, Ryan and Lauren Zeo, Elizabeth, Tony and Braydon Waite of Acworth, Georgia; Larry (Merri) Mulhauser of Brighton, Colorado; Corky Mulhauser, Terry (Kathy) Mulhauser, Debbie (Doug) Burchill, all of Syracuse; John and Robbie Nicoli of Coto de Caza, California and his “dark-haired daughter”, Sarah (Bob) Beechinor of Baldwinsville and their families as well as his adored grandpups, Meggie, Mabel and Minnie. Also, the caring staff of St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center and his roommate and buddy, Art Teneyk. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Chuck will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
