Daniel R. Fahey

April 10, 1961 — April 27, 2019

Daniel R. Fahey, 58, of Memphis, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Henninger High School.

Daniel was employed for 33 years with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Dept., retiring as a detective in 2016. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Police Association. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid outdoorsman but above all, loved spending time with his family.

Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Beverly.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Joanne Nellenback; daughter, Anna (Todd) Hurlbut of Baldwinsville; son, Daniel (Lauren) of Onondaga Hill; a brother; grandson, Connor Fahey; and many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 2 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Daniel will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or to Holy Family Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
