Dominick J. Gravante, 98, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on Friday, May 17, 1907 in New York City, he was the son of Anthony Gravante and Sarah Orlando. He lived in New York City until moving to the north side of Syracuse in 1950. Dominick was a public accountant with Bloom & Gravante for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He was formerly a self-employed grocer in New York City and was one of the first to bring self-service and frozen foods into an Italian neighborhood. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a former member of the Empire State Association of Public Accountants. Surviving are his wife of 72 years, the former Antoinette Assunta Troiano; son and daughter-in-law, Barry J. and Pat Gravante of Liverpool; daughter, Celine T. Sharp of Fairmount; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Cutropia of Arizona and Mary and Salvatore LaDolce of New York City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church where Rev. Jon K. Werner will celebrate a funeral Mass. Friends may call Friday, March 3, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
