Dorothy E. Bowman, 83, of Westvale, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010 at home. Born on Thursday, May 6, 1926, she was the daughter of Albert David Esselstyn and Jane Kilburn Esselstyn. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was employed by American Greeting Card Company. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Paul E. Bowman, on November 6, 2003. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce E. and Deborah Bowman, and Ronald D. and Kathleen Bowman, all of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Ryan D. Bowman of Oakland; Maine, Eleanor L. Bowman, Amanda M. Bowman and James P. Bowman, all of Syracuse; one great-grandson, Robert D. Bowman of Oakland, Maine; one sister, Betty J. Bowman of Camillus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Father Craig R. Swan will officiate at a memorial service on Tuesday, May 4 at noon in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be private in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5402 West Genesee St., P.O. Box 91, Camillus, NY 13031.
