Edward E. Greene

Edward E. Greene Sr., 85, of Camillus, formally of Marcellus, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, July 6, 1927, he was the son of George and Adelphine (Case) Greene. A graduate of North Syracuse High School, he also attended Syracuse University and was an Army veteran of World War II. Edward retired after over 60 years in the insurance business and was owner of Group Insurance Administrative Services as a certified financial consultant for the last 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was past president of the Marcellus Optimist Club and member of the CLU. An avid golfer, he was a former member of Tuscarora Golf Club. Edward was predeceased by his first wife, the former, Marie Eppler, in 1984; brother, George D. Greene; and sister, Bernice Brown. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Ann; son, Dr. Edward E. (Christin) Greene Jr. of the Netherlands; daughters, Lori (Dan) Coon of Marcellus and Diane (Steve Kallfelz) of Houma, Louisiana; stepdaughters, Mary Ann (Terry) Coogan of Camillus and Karin (Leonard) Miller of Boston, Massachusetts; stepsons, Robert (Marie Harrington) Byrne of Pennellville and Patrick (Ingrid) Byrne of Spencer; grandchildren, Adam Kallfelz, Dr. Michael Liquori, Solvieg and Caroline Greene, Erin Phillips, Colleen Barba, Bryan Coogan, Jonathan and Alexandra Miller, Sean, Matthew and Kathleen Byrne and Stephanie Rathbun; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Private funeral services will be Friday, April 5 at the funeral home. Edward will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
