Edward F. Filipkowski Jr., 66, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at home. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, May 16, 1944, he was the son of Edward Francis Filipkowski and Anna Cygan Filipkowski. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he lived in Camillus for 32 years. Ed was a 1962 graduate of Onondaga Valley School and Army veteran. Employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 37 years, he retired in 1999 and later worked part-time for Adesa Auto Auction for 10 years. Ed was a member of Cicero American Legion James Harvey Post 787 and communicant of Holy Family Church. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. His granddaughter, Skyler Rose Collins, died in 2009. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Diane Cadwell; daughters, Stacey Marie Davis of Camillus and Jamie Alicia Collins of Syracuse; sister, Karen Walsh of Camillus; grandchildren, Devon and Ivy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
