Eleanore Marie Naron

July 30, 1929 — December 4, 2016

Eleanore M. Naron, 87, of Syracuse, joined her husband H. Talmadge Naron in eternal peace on Sunday, December 4, 2016. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her daughter, Jenifer (Brian) Kilroy of Syracuse; sons, Larry (Carol) Naron of Oswego and George (Lynn) Naron of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Abigail and Jack Kilroy, Kate, Maggie, Laura, Andrew and Alan Naron.

Eleanore was the daughter of Joseph A. and Eleanore M. Puretell of Glenside, PA. She met the love of her life on a blind date in 1951 and they were married on June 19, 1954. They were blessed to have 61 wonderful years together before Talmadge passed in 2015.

Eleanore dedicated her life to her family. She stayed at home and raised her three wonderful children. Anyone that knew her remembers that the Naron door was always open. She was always cooking for a house full of people. She had a heart of gold.

Eleanore was also a beautiful seamstress making all of Jenifer’s Barbie and doll clothes, as well as amazing Halloween costumes. As the grandchildren came along, she made all of their Halloween costumes and Christmas pajamas. Eleanore volunteered for years at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bath, NY where they lived for 45 years. She had a love for books and was very involved with the local library and also volunteered with her best friend, Rena Morse, with Meals on Wheels. She loved talking to all of the wonderful people she delivered food to and would often share their fascinating stories.

In 1994, Talmadge retired from Dresser Rand in Painted Post and they were able to enjoy 20 wonderful years of retirement with their winters in Florida and summers in Bath. They both loved the weather in Florida but loved their children and grandchildren more. They would travel back to New York to spend the Holiday season with their family every year. They enjoyed going on many cruises with their friends and loved their annual trip to Holden Beach with their family. While in Florida, Talmadge was an avid fisherman so Eleanore found her calling once again setting up a library in their retirement community’s recreation center. She was also in charge of a monthly luncheon for over 50 women. Eleanore and her friends, through the Red Hat Society, partnered with local elementary schools to volunteer and read to the different classrooms. She also organized a gift program for several needy families at the school.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday, December 10 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Eleanore will be laid to rest with her beloved husband on Monday, December 12 at 9 a.m. at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
