Evelyn Durgala Avery

Evelyn Durgala Avery, 82, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Auburn Nursing Home. Born in Auburn on Sunday, August 8, 1926, she was the daughter of Martin Durgala and Anna Matus Durgala. A lifetime resident of the Auburn area, she graduated from Skaneateles High School. She was employed with Auburn and Moravia Correctional Facilities for many years. Evelyn was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathryn Annan of Syracuse; granddaughter, Linda Annan of Syracuse; sister, Irene Stieber of Camillus; brother and sister-in-law, Milan and Paula Durgala of Auburn; nieces, Ellen Si and Anne Stieber; nephews, Paul Durgala and Richard Stieber. Graveside services will be private Friday, May 15, 2009. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr., Auburn, NY 13021.
