Frank E. Gillet

Frank Ellsworth Gillet, 92, formerly of Fairmount, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, March 17, 1914, he was the son of Llewellyn Leroy Gillet and Lena Holden. He lived in Fairmount for 55 years until moving to Liverpool in 2004. Frank retired in 1979 after 38 years of teaching, including 32 years of biology at Solvay High School, teaching in a one-room schoolhouse (grades 1-8) in Delaware County for three years and one year in Tompkins County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Frank was a charter member of West Genesee Hills Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Association for Retired Persons, former member of the New York State Teachers Association, member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and former member of Fairmount Library Association. He was a former Boy Scout leader for eight years and presented nature programs for five years at local schools and the Camillus Canal Park for Burnet Park Zoo as part of Education Outreach. For ten years, he presented nature programs to school groups at the Erie Canal. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Ruth Sanborn; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joe Brin of Baldwinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Kate of Medford, New Jersey; four grandchildren, one great-grandson, three nieces and one nephew. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2006 at West Genesee Hills Baptist Church, 4947 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Pastor Mark Ferry and Pastor Paul Jewell officiating. Friends may call preceding the service from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church. Spring burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W.
