George I. Dimovski

George I. Dimovski, 77, of Camillus, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Rosewood Heights Health Center. Born in Velushena, Macedonia, in the former Yugoslavia, on Friday, April 6, 1928, he was the son of Ilija and Menka Ristevski. His father was a farmer and his mother was a homemaker. George studied agriculture during his formative years as a student and married Finka Mishevska in the village of Velushena, Macedonia on May 2, 1953. He came to the USA in 1956 after having been a refugee in Greece. His wife and son, Spase, arrived in 1959. Their two daughters were born in Syracuse. He became a naturalized citizen on December 5, 1961. They lived on Grand Avenue from 1958 to 1974 before moving to Terrytown Heights Drive in Camillus. George was employed by Cambridge Filter and was formerly employed by Bond Bakery, General Electric and Rockwell Int. He was a member of St. George's Macedonian Orthodox Church. George was a quiet and stoic man by nature who loved to raise vegetables, particularly peppers and tomatoes. With his own grape vines, he made wine. George also enjoyed socializing with his Macedonian friends. He was well versed in the history of Macedonia. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Finka P. Mishevska; son, Spase Dimovski of Camillus; daughter and son-in-law, Katheryn and Steven Goldman of Sloatsburg; daughter, Anthina Dimovski of Camillus; sister, Ljubica Atanosovska of Australia; brother, Krste Dimovski of Liverpool; grandchildren, Samuel, William, Jacquelyn and Jayne; nieces and nephews, Donna Velovska, Pandil Atanosovski, Jim Dimovski, Anna Nederveld and Pete and Voncho Spasevski. Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in St. George's Macedonian Orthodox Church with Rev. Branko Postolovski officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, December 13, 2005 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Trisagion service at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MALECARE, 125 2nd Ave., Rm. 13, New York, NY 10003. (Specify for NYS Prostate Cancer Coalition.)
