Gloria J. Herron

March 18, 1941 — December 15, 2009

Gloria Jean Herron, 68, of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday at Community General Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she grew up in the Valley and graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy. Gloria retired from M&T Bank and was also formerly employed by Onondaga Savings Bank. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was a former member of the funeral luncheon committee. She enjoyed spending summers at Brennan’s Beach and spending time with her children and grandchildren, Gloria was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Herron. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Peter Edward Herron; daughter, Christine Stearns of Syracuse; sons, Kevin E. (Liz) Herron of Ontario Canada, Scott (Roberta) Herron of Syracuse and Peter Greg (Carrie) Herron of Simsbury, CT; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Richard A. (Joan) Tackley of Skaneateles, Dave (Marcia) Tackley of Feeding Hills, MA and Douglas (Debbie) Tackley of Brockport. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Church. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Gloria will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY, 5008 Brittonfield Parkway, Suite 700, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
