Henry A. Polech

Henry A. Polech, 74, of Camillus, died Wednesday, November 23. 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, January 22, 1931, he was the son of John and Helen Polech. He lived in Camillus for 47 years and was a 1948 graduate of Solvay High School. A training manager for the U.S. Postal Service on Taft Road, Hank retired in 1990 after 39 years. He was a member of the National Association Postal Supervisors and past president of the Syracuse branch. A Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, Hank was wounded in combat on December 1, 1950 and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the Korean Service Medal. He was a member and past post commander of VFW Post 8664 and member of the Korean War Veterans, Marine Corps League and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member and past treasurer of the Camillus Elks Lodge 2367, communicant of Holy Family Church and member of the Camillus Democratic Committee. Hank loved his grandchildren, Thomas, Alexander and Sarah. His wife of 47 years, the former Nancy McHale, died November 11, 2003. Surviving are his daughter, Maureen Polech Marion of Camillus; son and daughter-in-law, Henry J. and Janet Polech of Liverpool; grandchildren, Thomas Polech of Liverpool, Alexander Marion of Camillus and Sarah Polech of Liverpool; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Krichbaum of Mattydale and Elizabeth and John Kosecki of Lakeland; several nieces and nephews and many loving neighbors and friends. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Sunday, November 27, 2005 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
