Henry Mesick Miller Jr.

February 8, 1932 — February 27, 2022

Henry M. Miller Jr., “Grandpa Hank,” 90, of Camillus, passed away gently Sunday at Francis House in Syracuse. The son of Henry M. and Emily (Berisford) Miller, he was born in Jamestown, NY and spent his childhood in Tuckahoe, NY. Many of his ancestors lived in Kinderhook, NY in the Hudson River Valley. After graduating from Alfred University, he married Dorothy Yetman in 1954. He was stationed in the U.S. Army in Killeen, TX and later moved to Syracuse and finally Camillus. He had a long and rewarding career as an underwriter with Wausau Insurance Company. Henry was a patient and quiet man, with a keen interest in the Liz and Dave Beebe Erie Canal Park in Camillus where he volunteered for years. He was also a volunteer at Maxwell Library in Camillus and was an avid reader of history. He loved long walks, Syracuse University basketball, and conversations with good friends and neighbors.

Henry was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Yetman, in 2019.

Surviving are his sons, Mark R. (Susan) Miller of Camillus and Andrew R. (Nancy Rice) Miller of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Adam H. Miller of Oswego and Lindsay (Eric) Klaben of Marcellus; and great-grandchildren, Everett Henry Klaben and Louisa Maren Klaben.

In a final act of generosity, Henry donated his body to Upstate Medical University.

As per Henry’s wishes, there will be no services.

Contributions, in Henry’s memory, may be made to the Liz and Dave Beebe Erie Canal Park, 5750 DeVoe Rd., Camillus, NY 13031 or to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
