James C. Lawyer

James C. Lawyer, 53, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday at home from heart complications due to his battle with lung cancer. One of nine children, Jim was a graduate of Corcoran High School and attended OCC. He was employed over 30 years with Onondaga County, first with the Highway Dept. and then Water Environment Protection in East Syracuse. He will be remembered for his quick wit, artistic drawing ability, songs with air guitar, good recipes and love of family and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Leona; brother, Bob; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Fred Brewer; and nephew, Guy. Surviving are his wife, the former Brenda Dishaw; sisters, Nancy (Ron) Fitzgerald and Sue (Carl) Campbell, both of Camillus; brothers, Mike of Liverpool, Frank (Diane) of Whitesboro, Ed (Karen) of Westvale and John (Kim) of Naples, FL; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, October 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Thursday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CNY SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.
