James M. Snyder, 83, of Camillus, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, March 16, 1927, he lived in Rome, NY, Camillus, and Florida before moving to Tennessee in 2007. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. James was a member of the United Auto Workers as a machinist and tool and die maker for General Motors Corp. He was formerly employed by Longley Jones Real Estate Agency as a real estate broker. He was also a former communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Warners. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. James was predeceased by his wife, the former June Fogarty; parents, Raymond and Magdalin Snyder; and sister, Marjorie Snyder. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Robbie Sherrill, Lorraine Phillips, Julie and Nate Willsey, Mary and James Ritter, Denise Snyder, Nancy and Michael Karpenko, Maureen and Charles Hayes; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Gail Snyder and Matthew and Melissa Snyder; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Patricia Sloan; and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date followed by burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
