Joel Chapin Bertan
July 28, 1970 — February 7, 2017
Joel Chapin Bertan, 46, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he attended West Genesee High School. Joel enjoyed watching auto racing and science fiction, but above all, loved spending time with his family.
Joel was predeceased by his mother, Joan, in 1996.
Surviving are his father, Paul Bertan of Camillus; long-time companion, Michele Mirizio of Syracuse; daughters, Jessica Mirizio of Liverpool and Melissa (Robert) Bassett of Syracuse; stepson, Jeffrey Mirizio of Syracuse; sisters, Jennifer (Ron) Belcher of North Carolina and Jocelyn Baker of Carthage; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
