John F. Kostelac

John F. Kostelac, 94, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday July 14, 2012 at home. Born in Steelton, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 29, 1917, he graduated from the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the California Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1949. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Crucible Steel and Sharon Steel in Sharon, PA. He enjoyed traveling. John was predeceased by his wife, the former Betty Parker, in 1989; and daughter, Louise Kostelac, in 1976. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Susie Kostelac of Columbus, Ohio; daughter. Jane Gilberti of Syracuse; sister, Peg Goulet of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, John (Sara) Kostelac of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah (Mark) Horwitz of Chicago, Illinois, Erika Gilberti of Syracuse, Alyssa (Matt) Albert of Boston, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Kostelac of Columbus, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Jack Kostelac and Colton Horwitz. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. There will be no services. Contributions may be made to The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, 106 S. New Middletown Rd., Media, PA 19063.
