Joe Kallfelz, 73, of Syracuse, a kind and gentle man to everyone who knew him, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, September 5, 1936, he was the son of Josephine Marie Honold Kallfelz and A. Joseph Kallfelz Sr. He was a lifetime resident of Syracuse. Joe was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School and from both LeMoyne College and Albany College of Pharmacy. He retired as a pharmacist from Community General Hospital after 37 years of service, then returned as a part time pharmacist. He was a communicant and active participant of Holy Family Church where he was past president of the Holy Name Society and a member of the funeral choir. Due to his love of music, Joe was a member of the Tom Dooley Choraliers. He was an avid model train collector who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Sheila MacDonald Kallfelz; son, Kevin; and grandson, Zachary Przewlocki. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, the former Anita Przewlocki; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sheila Kallfelz of Syracuse; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristen and Frank Monfalcone of Rochester and Meghan and Scott Channels of Camillus; stepdaughter and husband, Elizabeth and Tim Moore of Syracuse; stepson and wife, Michael and Deborah Przewlocki of Connecticut; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Francis and Heidi Kallfelz of Ithaca; grandchildren, Kara and Allison Kallfelz, Cole, Brooke, and Karly Monfalcone, Sarah, Molly, and Katelyn Channels, Donovan Moore, Jordan and Grace Przewlocki; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 13 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Contributions in Joe’s name may be made to Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207 or to the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Rd., 2nd Floor, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
