May 2, 1960 — April 3, 2013

Joseph T. Thornton Jr., 52, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born Monday, May 2, 1960, and was a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School. He was a truck driver for over 30 years with Fay’s Drugs, Eckerd Drugs, and most recently, Rite Aid Drugs. An avid hunter, Joseph also enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. Surviving are his parents, Dr. Joseph and Joan (McCullough) Thornton of Camillus; sisters and brother-in-law, Dr. Joan Thornton of Onondaga Hill, Patricia Burnham of Fairmount, and Susan and John Alberts of Onondaga Hill; brothers, Mark Thornton of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Michael Thornton and Thomas Thornton, both of Fairmount; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, April 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Joseph will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
