Loretta Martin Backus

Loretta Martin Backus, 96, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Van Duyn Rehabilitation & Nursing. Born in Chateaugay, she lived in Camillus most of her life. Loretta retired from Syroco, Inc. after 12 years and was previously employed with GE.  She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Loretta was predeceased by her husbands, Howard Martin, Gilbert Benway and Stanley Backus; five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her children, Kenneth (Joan) Martin of St. Petersburg, F,L Donna (Irving Lawton) Cummo of Split Rock and James Martin of Concord, NC; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Loretta will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
