Louise Countryman Casey Sackett

Louise Countryman Casey Sackett, 93, of Syracuse, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Syracuse on Sunday, July 13, 1913, she was the daughter of Benjamin G. Countryman and Grace K. Yorkey. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a 1931 graduate of Central High School. Louise was employed by General Electric Co., retiring in 1976 after 17 years. Her greatest happiness came from being with her family, playing the piano, reading, traveling, crocheting and playing golf. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Casey Marrs of Syracuse; son, Dr. James B. (Dr. Diane) Casey of Oak Lawn, Illinois; stepson, Stephen B. (Georganne) Sackett of Liverpool; brother, Richard C. Countryman of Whitesboro; grandson, David H. (Jacqueline) Marrs, Jr. of Syracuse; granddaughters, Melinda L. (Mark) Mayer and Amy E. (Mark) Gasowski, both of Syracuse; step grandchildren, Stephen B. Sackett of Manhattan, Lisa A. Sackett of Liverpool, Nathan and Jeremy Smith of Ohio; sister-in-law, Beatrice Countryman of Florida; great-grandchildren, Andrea and John Marrs, Casey and Mark Mayer, Mark and Gabrielle Gasowski, all of Syracuse; step great-grandson, Zachary Smith of Ohio; cousin, Gilbert (Elva) Goff of Minoa and sister-in-law, Rosie Lucio of Camillus. Louise was predeceased by her first husband, John (Jack) Casey (1958), second husband, Maj. Anthony B. Sackett (2000), son-in-law, David H. Marrs, Sr. (2004), brother, David (Bud) Countryman and sister-in-law, Lucille Countryman. Father Craig R. Swan will officiate at private services at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5402 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
