Maria (Lang) Fishkin
November 8, 1947 — July 28, 2019
Maria (Lang) Fishkin, 71, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 28. Maria’s courage and never-ending fight to be with her family is a testament to her strong will and passion for life. Maria’s love for her children and her granddaughters will remain with them forever.
Maria was born in New York City on November 8, 1947 to Walter and Verna Lang. She graduated from Marcellus High School in 1965. Maria attended Oswego State and later the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, graduating in 1969. While attending FIT, she met her future husband, Marty Fishkin and they were married that fall on October 11, 1969. This fall they would have been married 50 years.
Maria’s love for life extended to her many interests. She designed and spent endless hours in her sewing room. Maria was an avid reader and enjoyed working part-time at the Maxwell Memorial Library in Camillus. She especially loved cooking and baking with her granddaughters. Every Christmas they made cookies and candy for friends and family.
Maria worked in the family real estate business, Verna Lang Real Estate for over 20 years alongside her brother, Bill Lang, who passed in 2012.
Maria leaves behind her husband, Marty; sons, Jason of Camillus and Seth (Carrie) of Crofton, MD; granddaughters, Taylor, Rylee and Madison; and loving dog, Milo.
