Mary Lou (Andershin) Swift

Mary Lou (Andershin) Swift, 82, of Tipperary Hill, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at home, peacefully surrounded by family. Born on Thursday, June 19, 1924, she was the daughter of Alexander Andershin and Pearl Pankowicz. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was a graduate of Vocational High School. An antique dealer, Mary Lou was a former member and past president of the Onondaga County Antique Dealer's Association. She was also formerly employed by the New York Telephone Co. A communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, she was a member of the Apostleship of Prayer. Mary was a dedicated friend and teacher to a number of priests and seminarians and a second mother to many immigrant Ukrainian families. Her interests included reading, bargain hunting at garage sales, gardening, travel and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph G. Swift (September 6,1993), son, John Patrick Swift (April 1991) and two sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Julianne M. (Jeff) Crane of Syracuse and Mary E. (James) Wruck of San Pablo, California; sons, Joseph A. (Susan) Swift of Ontario, NY, William A. Swift of Buffalo and Terrance M. (Tamara) Swift of Lometa, Texas; sister, Ann Marie Boyle of Syracuse; grandchildren, Matthew A. (Michiko) Swift, Christopher J. (Ashley) Swift, Christina J. Casaletta, Maria L. Casaletta, John C. Casaletta and Emma Lou Wruck; step-grandchildren, Andrea M. and Josh E. Crane; great-grandson, Jeffery M. Swift and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a brother-in-law. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church where a Divine Liturgy for the Deceased will be celebrated. Friends may call Tuesday, December 5, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Panakhyda services at 6:30 p.m. The Apostleship of Prayer will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central New York, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY, 13088 or to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
