Matthew J. Panarisi

July 21, 1934 — June 29, 2018

Matthew J. Panarisi, 83, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2018 after a long illness. Born and raised in Auburn, he moved to Camillus in 1995. Matthew was a graduate of West High School and an Army veteran. He was employed with Alco Power, Inc. for 34 years before retiring in in 1987. Matthew was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially for duck and deer. He was a fan of the Yankees, Buffalo Bills and SU and loved spending time with family and friends.

Matthew was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gerlandia Panarisi; brothers, Peter, George and Carmen Panarisi; and sister, Mary Pisciotti.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Nancy Lawton; daughters, Anne Marie (Michael) Sheldon of Elbridge and Melissa Cavanaugh of Minoa; grandchildren, Matthew and Scott Sheldon and Marisa and Drew Cavanaugh; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call Monday, July 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 3 at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Matthew will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
