Matthew Scott Rimualdo

March 20, 1997 — August 19, 2020

Matthew Scott Rimualdo, of Camillus, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Although only 23 years old, Matt affected many lives with his bright and infectious personality and charming smile.

Matt was deeply committed to his friends, his extended family, his golf game and his impeccable attire. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, who made everyone feel as if they were his favorite. He could light up a room with his charming smile and easy-going manner, always offering a comforting presence and kind acceptance to anyone he met.

A graduate of West Genesee High School, Matt was a member of the varsity tennis team and loved taking part in spirit weeks and social events, always ready to show off his true colors.

Matt grew up playing CYO Basketball for St. Joseph’s, and later gave back to the CYO community by volunteering as a modified coach, guiding his team in style, always wearing a suit and his classic white shoes.

Matt understood the importance of friendships, often planning camping trips and Friendsgiving gatherings. He was a firm believer in “Saturdays are for the boys!”

Matt was a proud grandson who never was embarrassed to hang out with his Grandma Joan. He happily accompanied her to the casino, regularly joined her for dinner outings, helped build gingerbread houses and joined her on vacations to Myrtle Beach, Disneyworld and her camp on Fourth Lake.

His little cousins cherished Matt, looking up to him like a “big brother.” He was always willing to play with them and show them how to dress appropriately for any occasion!

Matt had a natural talent for entertaining others. He loved karaoke, TikTok, accepting food challenges, singing around the campfire and WWE.

Previously he was employed at The Movie Tavern, where he made white shoes part of the dress code, and then at Golf Galaxy, where he was proudly known as their resident “Rickie Fowler.” Most recently, he worked alongside his Uncle Ralph running The Beef Jerky Outlet in Lake George and The Beef Jerky Experience in Lake Placid.

Matt was an avid golfer and enjoyed posting pictures of his solo outings out on the links. It was obvious he found peace there in the quiet of the green, where “the rhythm of the game just like the rhythm of life.” -Bagger Vance

Matt was predeceased by his father, Scott Rimualdo; and paternal grandfather, Ralph Rimualdo Sr.

Surviving are his mother and father, Kristine Rimualdo-Mitson and David Mitson; brother, Joshua Rimualdo; paternal grandmother, Joan Rimualdo; maternal grandmother, Sharon (John) O’Connell; maternal grandfather, Karl Hershey; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
