Michael E. Pinkasewicz

February 18, 1930 — February 13, 2005

Michael E. Pinkasewicz, 74, of Camillus, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. The son of Andrew Pinkasewicz and Victoria Znaczko, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse-Camillus area. A 1947 graduate of Vocational High School and valedictorian, Michael was a member of the marching band where he played the trombone and tuba. A graduate of Syracuse University, he received a degree in liberal arts in 1953 and a College of Law degree in 1958. Michael was U.S. Treasury Attorney for the federal government, retiring in 1995 after 32 years. He was a member of the Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corp. where he played the baritone and soprano bugle. He was a member of the Modern Male Chorus, Syracuse University Male Chorus, St. John's Church Choir, Ukrainian Men's Chorus, Surma Male Chorus, Tyrolean Alpine Choraliers and director of both St. John's English Liturgy Choir for 20 years and Dr. Tom Dooley Choraliers for more than 40 years. Michael was also a member of St. John's Holy Name Society, Ukrainian National Home, Polish Legion of American Veterans, Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. #1 Camillus, St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Assumption Church and the Notre Dame Retreat League in Canandaigua for 44 years. He was member of the Fort Dix Glee Club, Manhattan Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corp. and National Honorary member of the A.O.H. He began composing music for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade theme in 1982 and was grand marshal of the Syracuse St. Patrick's Day Parade 2000. He was a corporal for the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Rose Mary Leskoske; sisters, Julia Pinkasewicz and Tillie Fanok, both of Syracuse, and many nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his brothers, John Pinkashewicz and Andrew Pinkes. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 in Assumption Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Thursday, February 17, 2005 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 West Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St., Syracuse, NY 13204 or to Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
