Nancy Ann Byrne

Nancy Ann Byrne, 85, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 13, 2014. Born in Syracuse on August 6, 1929, she resided in Syracuse all her life and was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School. Nancy retired in 1989 after 41 years with NY Telephone Co. During retirement, she volunteered at Community General Hospital and traveled to many different places. Nancy enjoyed watching sports, especially SU basketball and football and attended many of the games. She also looked forward to getting together with family and friends. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Anna Delaney Byrne; brothers, Peter and James; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Peter). Surviving are her sister-in-law, Kathleen Byrne of Syracuse; niece, Ann Byrne Gorton; nephews, James Jr., Patrick, Thomas, Martin, Terry, Richard, Timothy, Peter Jr., Paul, Robert, Dennis and Joseph; and many cousins. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, August 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 18 at 10 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. Nancy will be laid to rest in St. Agnes Cemetery.
