Patricia A. Harsma

Patricia A. Harsma, 84, of Lakeland, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Community General Hospital. Born on Wednesday, September 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Leroy Sweeney and Viola Darrow Sweeney. She was raised in Sherrill, lived in Vernon before moving to Syracuse in 1959. Patricia was a graduate of Sherrill High School and attended Powelson Business Institute. A former communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, St. Joseph’s Church and St. Charles Borromeo Church, she was a former member of the Altar & Rosary Society and served as Eucharistic minister. Patricia enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Patricia was predeceased by her sister, Alice Cavanaugh. Surviving are her husband, of 65 years, Robert; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Michael McHugh of Camillus and Janet and Charles Crisafi of Syracuse; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. David and Lorane of Jordan, and Larry and Joanne and William, all of Syracuse; grandchildren, Lauren and Julie Harsma; sister, Mary Lou Fogg of Sherrill; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements are by Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Entombment will be private in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Patricia’s name may be made to the Dominican Monastery, 802 Court St., Syracuse, NY 13208.
