Richard D. Bowles Sr.

Richard D. Bowles Sr. passed away on his 91st birthday on January 6, 2021 with his wife and children by his side. He was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and one of 14 children. Richard was employed with Coughlin & Bowles Roofing for over 40 years. He completed his career retiring from the West Genesee Central School District.

Richard’s passion was music and dancing. When he danced with his wife, the never-ending smile on his face did not go unnoticed. Camping at Brennan Beach with family was his summer enjoyment for many years. Richard cherished spending time with family and passing the love of family onto all was his legacy. He will be truly missed by those he leaves behind.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Louise Bowles; 11 siblings; grandson, Justin Bowles; and granddaughter, Kylie Bowles.

Surviving are the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Emily Bowles; children, Patricia (Terry) Town, Richard (Dorothy) Bowles Jr., Timothy Bowles, Thomas (Susan) Bowles, MaryBeth (David) Condon and Gerald (Doreen) Bowles; grandchildren, Stacey, Alan, Ashley, Todd, Cassandra, Cody, Tyler, Thomas, David, Jacob, Joshua and Ally; great-grandchildren, Noah, Zoe, Max, Ava, Owen, Rory, Kieran and Elizabeth; and sisters, Nancy McConnell and Georgiann Pullin.

Graveside services will be Monday, January 11 at 1 p.m. in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
