Rita J. Horan, 76, of Lakeland, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Watertown, she lived in the Syracuse area since 1952 and was a graduate of Eastwood High School.

Rita was employed with Crouse Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1996 and also sold Avon. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Camillus and the Solvay Youth Center. An avid reader, Rita also enjoyed swimming and watching TV, especially the QVC channel but above all, loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rita was predeceased by her nine brothers; and a sister.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Lawrence; daughter, Debra (Michael Wilde) Chynoweth of Marietta; son, Michael (Debra) Horan of Cazenovia; sister, Mary Scarson of Warners; grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Seth and Gabriel; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, November 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rita’s name to the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, 1010 Woods Rd., Syracuse, NY 13209.
