Rita Mooney-Shanahan

Rita Mooney-Shanahan, 92, of Geddes, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at The Centers at St. Camillus. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was a graduate of St. Lucy's High School. Rita was employed for over 30 years with Chappell's, Dey Bros., and Bon-Ton. She enjoyed shopping and playing Bingo and other games at the Turning Stone Casino. Above all, Rita loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Rita was predeceased by her first husband, David R. Mooney.

Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Edward J. Shanahan; daughters, Kathleen (Timothy) O'Neill of Camillus and Marilyn Mooney of Baldwinsville; sons, David M. Mooney of Syracuse and Patrick (Christine) Mooney of Jordan; sister, Dorothy (Joseph) Boehm of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Rita will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.
