Rodney V. Martin

Rodney V. Martin, 79, of Fairmount, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born in Malone, he moved to the Syracuse area in 1945. Rodney was employed for 38 years with Carrier Corp. before retiring in 1995. He was a former member of the Fairmount Fire Dept. and its Exempt and Benevolent Association. Rodney was also a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He enjoyed his home in Florida, but above all, loved spending time with his family.

Rodney was predeceased by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; and granddaughter, Victoria Ness.

Surviving are his wife of 49 1/2 years, the former Nancy Shanahan; daughters, Robin Peers of Manlius, Linda (Tom) Ness of Fairmount, Susan (Mike) Colman of Syracuse and Kathy Martin of Fairmount; sons, Robert Peers of Chicago, IL, Kenneth "Kip" (Annmarie) Peers of Rochester and Jeffrey (Tina) Peers of Delray Beach, FL; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5 at noon in St. Joseph's Church. Rodney's eight grandchildren will be the pallbearers. Burial will be private.
