Russell L. Druce

Russell L. Druce, 66, of Camillus, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital after a long illness. Born in Clifford, NY on June 6, 1940, he lived in Camillus since 1968. Russell was a graduate of Mexico Academy and Central School. He received a B.S. degree from the State University College at Oswego and a Master's degree from Cornell University. He was a chemistry teacher at West Genesee High School for 28 years, retiring in 1996. Russell was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. An active volunteer at Community-General Hospital, he also was a member of the Top Hats Dance Club, Onondaga Yacht Club and Links at Sunset Ridge Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, small engine repair, genealogy and times spent with family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ivan Sr. and Eudora Huetson Druce and brother, Ronald. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, the former Helen Badger; daughters, Kathleen D. Halloran of Southborough, Massachusetts and Karen L. Druce of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.; son, Michael R. Druce of Camillus; sister, Lila M. Young of Sandy Pond; brothers, Ivan (Betty) Druce Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla. and William (Frances) Druce of Palermo; grandchildren, Michael, Kelsey and Colleen Halloran and Samantha and Nicole Druce and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Van Duyn for their care and support. Services will be at noon Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Immanuel United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig French officiating. Friends may call Friday, April 13, 2007 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be in Mexico Village Cemetery, Mexico, NY. Contributions may be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Rd., Camillus, NY 13031 or to the Volunteer Office at Community-General Hospital, 4900 Broad Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215.
