December 5, 1933 — March 6, 2019
Sofie Rahner, 85, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Francis House surrounded by her loving family. Born in Germany, she arrived in Syracuse with her husband Hans on her birthday in 1957.
Sofie enjoyed traveling, nature walks, the beach and above all else, spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, Hannah and Colton.
Sofie recently said that she was, "Born at a tough time into a big loving family. I was able to travel to places, do things and meet people that I couldn`t even have imagined." It was a life well lived. She will be forever remembered by those who knew her as someone that offered nothing but love and kindness.
Sofie was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Sofie Roth; sisters, Maria, Liesel, and Rita; and brother, Franz.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Hans; son, David (Michele); beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Colton; sisters, Inge (Paul) Gerlach and Hilde (Harold) Wulff; and several nieces and nephews.
A special “Thank You” to all the people at Hospice of Syracuse, Francis House and Dr. Henry Schoeneck.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
