Stanley Anthony Jachim, 97, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on Thursday, May 7, 1914, he was the son of Stanley and Nellie Jachim. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, he was employed by the Liverpool Central School District. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A former communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool, Stanley was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and pool with friends. Surviving are his sister, Veronica Prue of Palm Bay, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 1 in St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Stanley will be laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
