Suzanne Leonora Samolis

Suzanne Leonora Samolis, 76, of Liverpool, formerly of Camillus, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Birchwood Health Care Center. Born on Tuesday, February 13, 1934, she was the daughter of Matteo Milazzo and Ruth Mele Milazzo. She was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and a graduate of Marywood College. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Suzanne enjoyed singing and was a former choir member. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. Suzanne’s husband of 44 years, Edward, passed away in 2002. Surviving are her daughters, Maria Sweeney of Syracuse and Ruth Sherman of Roanoke, Virginia; sons, Michael of North Syracuse and Matthew of Boston, Massachusetts; sisters, Ruthann of Annapolis, Maryland and Mary Milazzo of Albany; brother, Matteo Milazzo of Gaithersburg, Maryland; grandchildren, John and Robert Sweeney and Jennifer, Elizabeth and Michelle Samolis; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Entombment will be private in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Suzanne’s name to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
