Theresa A. Canestrare

Theresa A. Canestrare, 65, of Camillus, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of West Genesee High School and earned her associate degree from OCC. Theresa was employed with St. Joseph’s Hospital for 39 years before retiring in 2012. She was an avid reader, bowler and golfer. Theresa also enjoyed playing cards, playing the piano and traveling. Above all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Theresa was predeceased by her mother, Donna Gutchess.

Surviving are her husband, Richard; sons, Matthew (Colleen) Sandford of Camillus and Jeffrey Sandford of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Colin, Avery and Connor; father, Jack Gutchess of Camillus; sisters, Cynthia (Dave) Cadieux-Lautenslager of Moravia and Nancy (Mike) Bandera of South Onondaga; brothers, James Gutchess of Camillus and Gerald (Kris) Gutchess of Baldwinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, August 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required.

Services will be private. Burial will be private.
