Virginia DeRose Petrocci

October 15, 1917 — July 1, 2010

Virginia DeRose Petrocci, 92, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Solvay on Monday, October 15, 1917, she was the daughter of Julio and Caroline DeRose. She was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Virginia was formerly employed by E.W. Edwards Dept. Store and was a former communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia’s husband of 60 years, Michael A. Petrocci, passed away on February 2, 2003. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Pamela Petrocci of Jamesville and David and Ellen Petrocci of Fairfax, Virginia; grandchildren, Lisa (Eric) Yarah, Matthew (Bobbi) Petrocci, Thomas and Lauren Petrocci; great-grandchildren, Colden and Annaliese Yarah and Myli Petrocci; sisters and brother-in-law, Toni and Robert LaBadie of East Syracuse and Carmel DeRose of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Virginia will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
