Walter E. O'Brien

Walter E. O'Brien, 77, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013at University Hospital. Born in Phoenix, NY, he was a Navy veteran. Walter retired from Roofers Local #195 after 50 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and feeding the birds. Walter was predeceased by his mother, Lillian Murray; son, Derek; sister, Mary Prentice; and brother, Martin O'Brien. Surviving are his longtime companion of 30 years, Sharon Holland of Liverpool; and sister, Melanie Allen of Warners. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, November 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, Inc., 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 E. Mud Lake Rd., Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
