Anne Carmola, 105, of Hilton Head, SC, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025. Born in Syracuse, she later made Hilton Head her home, joining her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, Joe, after many years of enjoying the island on family vacations.
Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Family was the heart of her life, and she especially cherished gatherings where she could cook, host, and create lasting memories with her loved ones. Holidays at her home were filled with warmth, laughter, and the traditions she so lovingly upheld.
In addition to her deep love for family, Anne was an avid bridge player and enjoyed many years of friendship and camaraderie around the card table in Syracuse.
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Carmola, in 1967; parents, Paul and Catherine Forleo; brother, Dominick Forleo; sister, Mary Mickel; and dear friend, Mel Penfield.
Surviving are her children John “Jack” (Cindy), Nancy (Joe) DeJulio, and Robert “Bob” (Cindy); grandchildren, Joe (Lisa) Carmola, Kelly (Stephen) Sheffield, Taylor (Marissa) Carmola, and Sara (Jeff) Chatfield; great-granddaughters, Ashlan and Gia Carmola, and McKenna and Blakely Sheffield; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Anne will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
