Barbara C. Lind

Barbara C. Lind, 86, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born and raised in Ossining, Barbara was a graduate of Ossining High School. She went on to pursue her passion for education at SUNY Cortland, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In 1965, she moved to the Syracuse area after marrying her beloved husband, Ralph, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, adventure, and devotion.

Barbara dedicated 31 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher in the Westhill Central School District. A passionate advocate for education and her fellow educators, she was an active member of the Westhill Central School District Teachers Union and the New York State United Teachers.

A faithful member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Barbara found strength and community in her church family. She had a lifelong love of reading and stitching, and she and Ralph shared a deep passion for travel, exploring 42 countries together and creating cherished memories around the world.

Above all, Barbara treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved, offering unwavering support, warmth, and wisdom. Her kindness, dedication, and adventurous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and lifelong curiosity that will continue to inspire her family, friends, former students, and colleagues for generations to come.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Beatrice Warren.

Surviving are her loving husband of 60 years, Ralph; sons, Eric of Camillus and Andrew (Karen) of Niskayuna; grandchildren, Erica, Emma, Zachary and Samantha; brother, Larry (Barbara) Warren of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Barbara’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.

Barbara will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
