Barbara Elaina Macrides

Barbara Elaina Macrides, 83, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Sunday.

A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Barbara began her work career at General Electric Co., later transitioning to Hallmark and Richards and Co. Jewelers. She was known for her warm spirit and love of sports, especially tennis, which she enjoyed playing for many years.

Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, her active lifestyle, and the many friendships she formed throughout her life. She leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas; parents, Michael and Barbara Gonsa; her sister Mary Anne McIntyre.

Surviving are her sons, J. Christopher (Paula) of Grand Island, NY, and Jason (Vicki) of Selbyville, DE; grandchildren, Karli, Nico, Craig, Alexis, Dorothea, Trent, and Sophia; sister, Dorothy Feeney of Alexandria, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Barbara’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.

Barbara will be laid to rest in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
