Barbara Anna Rybak, 94, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday.
A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Barbara graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School. A devoted and longtime communicant of Holy Family Church, she lived each day with deep faith, joy, and compassion, and was known for her incredible sense of humor.
Barbara cherished time with her family. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loyal friend. Her husband, Ed, fondly declared her “the best cook on Turner Avenue,” and her children agreed.
Barbara was an avid reader who enjoyed a good book and was always up for an adventure—whether it was going on lunch dates, taking a ride while town-hopping, or family trips to Long Island and the St. Lawrence River.
Barbara’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in her beautiful life.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Edward; daughter, Suzanne Thomas; and parents, James and Hilda Farrell.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (David) Grant and Mary (Dwight) Thompson; sons, John (Jean) and James; son-in-law, Lee Thomas; grandchildren, Keith Rybak, Rebecca Delmonte, Jared (Savithri) Grant, Andrew (Carly) Grant, Julianna (Ben) Ryck, Jonathan (Alyssa) Rybak, Brian (Arynn) Thompson, Kristen (Steve) Olaya, and Meghan Thomas; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To celebrate Barbara’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Barbara will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holy Family Church Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
