Barbara Marie Spencer

Barbara Marie Spencer, 84, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday.

Born in Auburn, Barbara was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and a proud 1959 graduate of West Genesee High School. She dedicated 21 years of service as a stenographer with the Camillus Police Department, retiring in 2007.

Barbara was a past member of Amboy Belle Isle United Church and Word of Life Assembly of God in Baldwinsville. She also generously volunteered her time with the Erie Canal, where she worked aboard the dinner cruise.

Barbara found great joy in traveling to new places and creating lasting memories along the way, tending to her garden with care and pride, and embracing the simple pleasures of life. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family at her beloved camp in Cape Vincent, where laughter, storytelling, and togetherness made for some of her happiest and most treasured moments.

Barbara will be remembered for her dedication to her community, her love of family, and the warmth she brought to those around her.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Frank; granddaughter, Pipher Corrente; parents, Herbert and Arlene MacDowell; sister, Debra Wicks; and brother, Allison MacDowell.

Surviving are her sons, Erik and Mark (Angela); daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Corrente; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Linda) MacDowell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Barbara’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Barbara will be laid to rest at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
