Carole J. Kenyon, 88, of Weedsport went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 8.
Born and raised in Syracuse, she met the love of her life, Warren S. Kenyon, at McKinley School at the young age of 14. They married in 1950 and raised three children, Wayne, Kirk, and Bonnie in the Town of Camillus. In 1972, they had a fourth child, Stacey, and moved to Elbridge in 1974.
Carole devoted her life to not only her children but many other families as well. She cared for many children over the years and loved them as her own; they came to know her as “Aunt Carole”. She loved spending time with every child and often threw tea parties and played dress up with the girls and played mechanic or Matchbox cars with the boys. Her ability to make-believe with young children was amazing. Carole was known as “Mama” to many of her grandchildren’s friends as she loved them all as if they were her grandchildren too. She faithfully donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as well as other child ministries over the years.
Carole was an active member of Grace Chapel in Skaneateles for 33 years. In the early days, she prepared meals for the men constructing the church and continued to serve on the Women’s Committee, Senior Citizen Committee, nursery, and Vacation Bible School. Carole also prepared communion for the congregation monthly. She was strong in her faith and loved her Lord.
Carole was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 62 years, Warren; parents, Richard and Irene Furze; brothers, Richard and William Furze; and sister, Shirley Harris.
Surviving are her sons, Wayne S. (Pam) of Red Creek and Kirk D. (Renee) of Lacona; daughters, Bonnie L. (John) Major of Elbridge and Stacey L. (Matt) Ilacqua of Jordan; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Nancy Parody of North Syracuse; brother, Thomas Furze of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Immediate services will be private, and a Celebration of Life will be planned in the spring/summer of 2023.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
