Caroline S. LaFlamme, at 100 years of age, was our last living parent of her generation. She passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026 in Richmond, Virginia. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, to Arthur Hall Sanford and Lola Humphries Sanford, Carrie resided throughout the northeast before settling in Camillus for 48 years. She then relocated to Ewing, New Jersey in 2012 and most recently to Richmond, Virginia. Carrie’s love of gardening, birds, and furry companions is unmatched. Her secret to longevity was unconditional love of family and friends, and her unique sense of humor which always took people by surprise. She has been described as a force of nature who will be dearly missed, but her influence will remain with all who knew her and loved her.
Carrie is pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Lawrence “Larry” LaFlamme, a World War II veteran, whom she met while attending the University of Vermont. Together they raised four children and were blessed to celebrate 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
Carrie is also pre-deceased by her son, John “Jack” LaFlamme; son-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Capone, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Clark LaFlamme.
Surviving are her children, David LaFlamme, Lauren (Jan Michael) LaFlamme Waldron, and Helen LaFlamme Capone; nine beloved grandchildren; and her precious great grandchildren.
A family memorial service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Richmond, VA.
Contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 South Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805.
