Chad M. Ames, 42, of Camillus, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday. Born in Elmira, he made Camillus his home in 2011 to start his family with his wife. An accomplished individual, Chad graduated from Troy High School in 1999 and furthered his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies from King's College, a Master's Degree in Environmental Protection and Safety Management from St. Joseph's University and culminated his academic journey with an Executive Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Syracuse University. He exemplified unwavering dedication to the environmental sector throughout his career. For nine years, Chad served as an environmental compliance manager at SU, then transitioned to a role at Hanson Quarry. Most recently, he contributed his expertise as a senior specialist at Baxter, all while sharing his knowledge as an educator at SUNY ESF.
Chad’s impact extended beyond his professional life, serving as a member of the Fairmount Fire Department for six years and then becoming an honorary member. He was an integral part in shaping the lives of countless young athletes, including his own children through his unwavering dedication as a dedicated coach, board member, and commissioner for both the Camillus Softball & Baseball Assoc. and the Camillus Youth Basketball Assoc.
Chad leaves behind cherished memories for his family and friends, characterized by his passion for sports, concerts, beach vacations, and even Costco trips. May his children forever hold dear his profound love for them and may we all aspire to emulate his exemplary traits of generosity, selflessness, and unwavering dedication.
Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Sarah; children, Abigail, Adam, and Evelyn; father, Donald; mother, Cheri (Bill) Thomas; siblings, Carsyn (Zach), and Jamie and Jackie Ames; parents-in-law, Tom and Patti Brody; in-laws, Meg Dillon, Joe Brody, Dan Brody and Matt Brody; fellow out-laws; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and great aunts, Betty and Patsy.
To celebrate Chad’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass to honor Chad’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church.
Chad will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
