Charles A. Polge

Charles A. Polge, 96, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devout Catholic and was proud to be a member of Most Holy Rosary Parish.

Charles was a graduate of Central Tech and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College. He retired from Niagara Mohawk where he worked for 34 years as a supervisor in the Administrative Services Dept. He also coordinated yearly efforts in the Proxy Dept taking on additional responsibilities he gladly accepted. He enjoyed participating in their bowling and golf leagues, sharing many good times with colleagues.

Charlie worked tirelessly with household projects, camp maintenance and yard work and also delivered the New York Times on Sundays. He treasured the time spent with Mary, his beloved wife, and their family at their camp in the Adirondacks and yearly trips taken to Cocoa Beach. He also cherished many fond memories of visiting family members in Florida; the smiles were endless. Once retired, he found much love and joy in watching his grandchildren participate in their favorite activities and was very proud of the talents they all had.

Charles was predeceased by his wife Mary, in 2021; parents August and Mary Polge, brothers, Louis, August Jr., and Julien; sister, Mary Louise; and grandson, Andrew Guelfi.

Surviving are his children, Chuck (Robin) of Onondaga Hill, Mark (Cindy) of Charlotte, NC, Christen Fetterly of Camillus, and Michele (John) Provo of Camillus; grandchildren, Michael and Audrina Fetterly, Jessica (William) Lowe, Carly Polge, and Gavin Provo; brothers, Albert of Stuart, FL, and Alfred (Shelly) of Syracuse; and many loving nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Charles’ life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse.

Charles will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
