Charles W. “Chuck” Martin, 82, of Camillus, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born in Yonkers on Monday, December 26, 1927, he was the son of Francis John Martin and Ethel May Van Nostrom Martin. He lived in Auburn and Northport, Florida before moving to Camillus. Chuck was a graduate of East High in Auburn and employed by Auburn Correctional Facility for 26 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. His interests included portrait painting and sports. He was an avid Yankees fan and member of the Westvale Golf League. Chuck was a former member of the American Legion and Elks Clubs. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Jean Rosecrans; sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Christine of Sarasota, Florida, Gerald and Kathy of Clearwater, Florida and Scott and Lori of Marcellus; sister, Gladys Gridley of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, August 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 7 in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Chuck will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
